What Is a Single-Tooth Dental Implant?
A dental implant permanently replaces a missing tooth by surgically placing a small titanium post into the jawbone. As the implant fuses with the bone, it functions as a new tooth root. A custom crown (cap) is then attached to restore the look and function of your natural tooth.
To be a candidate for dental implants, you must have adequate jawbone density and healthy surrounding gum tissue. If the bone is not thick or strong enough, bone grafting may be recommended to rebuild it using donor bone or synthetic material. During your initial consultation at Center for Advanced Dentistry in Loveland, CO, our implant doctors will review your medical history and evaluate any conditions—such as diabetes, liver disease, or bleeding disorders—that could affect your eligibility for treatment.

Understanding Single-Tooth Implants
How Long Does a Dental Implant Take?
The Single-Tooth Dental Implants Treatment Journey
Implant Placement
Your dentist begins by making a small incision in the gum to place a titanium post securely into the jawbone. If multiple teeth are missing, this process is repeated at each implant site.1.
Healing & Osseointegration
Over the next several months (typically up to six), the implant naturally fuses with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration. This creates a strong, stable base that can support normal chewing forces.2.
Crown Attachment
Once the implant has fully integrated, a custom crown is attached to complete your tooth replacement—restoring both the look and function of your natural smile.3.
